The speakers noticed the considerable growth of the exhibition both in size and exhibitors’ number, as well as the special role of MITEX in reflecting the state and trends of tool industry development.
This year the guests could enjoy unique opportunities of MITEX broad business program. The key event was the RATPE conference “Russian Market of Power Tools and Labor Saving Devices: Present State and Prospects” which covered such issues as Russian power tools market, participation of business in standardization and technical regulation and latest trends of international trade regulations under the conditions of Customs Union.
As a result of a special focus on the education of young professionals a Student Initiative has been launched. Such companies as BOSCH, Interskol, HILTI, Hitachi and Stanley Black & Decker held workshops and practical training followed by visits to their stands. HILTI organized a meeting with their HR manager, who spoke with the students about job opportunities and internships in the company.
In order to provide the exhibitors with the opportunity to demonstrate their products and offer the visitors a chance to personally experience represented hand tools and equipment, a Demonstration Area has been created. Blaunt, Geopribor, Interscol, Kordoba, Stanley Black&Decker, and Fiolent have demonstrated their tools for construction, repair and forestry.
Exciting events organized by the WOOD-master magazine brought it a widespread appreciation among the visitors:
• Workshops by prominent cabinetmakers. Visitors could attend tutorials on woodwork decoration, turnery, woodcarving, marquetry, shellac finishing techniques, etc;
• Demonstrations of the latest novelties in the Russian market;
• Contests and prize drawings
• Woodwork fair
All the woodwork lovers could ask for advice from craftsmen working at the stand. Among them some famous names could be found: an expert on finishing techniques — Roman Deryabin, famous renovator and cabinetmaker — Fedor Bondarev, shellac finishing technique expert — Alexander Kashtanov. Everybody was welcome to try working on different machines and personally experience represented hand tools and equipment.
Rubankov Company took care of the historical aspect of the exhibition — a unique collection of 19th-20th century tools was displayed at one of its stands. It consisted of wooden planes, which were demonstrated along with their modern counterparts against the background of old posters and catalogues. The collection also included numerous carpentry and bench tools: saws, wrenches, pliers, drills, tape measures, which have been collected and restored by Rubankov Company.
Same as last year Tools-Expert Magazine organized Belt Sender Tools Race, which took a special place among the entertainment shows at the exhibition. The visitors could witness how professional belt sanders were turned into race cars on a specially designed race track. During two days Bosch, Euroexpo, Fasteners, Adhesives, Tools and ... Magazine, Hitachi Power Tools, Instatus, Interskol, Kalibr, Ken, Pruma, Sturm and construction college № 26 took part in the heats.
In their final interviews the participants of the exhibition noted that the exhibition was successful. Many of them outlined the increased scale of the exhibition, advantageous proximity to other representatives of the industry sector from all over the world and even interesting competitors in the framework of a single exhibition.
According to Galina Berezovskaya, Deputy Marketing director of Hitachi, for her company the exhibition was not only a platform to demonstrate their novelties but also an important source of direct contact to the clients. Some brand new tools, which were delivered from Japan just a few days before the exhibition start, were demonstrated at the stand. It was important for the representatives of the company to know the opinion of their customers, their impressions from working with the tools and to listen to their suggestions — “We evaluated the degree of our customers’ interest for the brand and certain models and came to the conclusion, there is more space for development ”.
Apart of that many participants marked an increased qualitative composition of the visitors. Thuswise the training center chief of Metabo, Evgenij Vinnizkiy made an observation that this year the company could exhibit more sophisticated types of tools, which few would have been interested in in the previous years.
Hermes company representatives noticed that this year the number of guests from Russian regions considerably increased and exceeded the number of visitors from Moscow and its Region. Moreover, they were more active in terms of making contacts. “Generally we can observe a trend towards regions and smaller businesses”. In the same context Juri Holkidse, the Sales Representative of Wendt —one of the participants of the joint German exposition positively evaluated the extensive geography of the exhibition, not only on the part of exhibitors, but also on the part of visitors, many of whom came from the most remote parts of Russia.
According to the organizer of the German stand, Marius Juschka, all the German participants were satisfied with the results — they managed to get many useful contacts.
Denis Borisov, Product trainer at TTI, mentioned a high level of organization and pointed out — “This year the access to the exhibition was facilitated.”
Every year the organizers of the exhibition make every effort so that the work of the exhibitors at the venue becomes even more convenient. Thus this year a mobile directory-guide with all the necessary information, including the list of exhibitors , numbers of their stands and contact information, floor plan, navigation and business program was available for downloading at www.mitex.neonavigation.com.
