Getting Around Moscow

Metro

The Moscow Metro is the fastest and most efficient way to travel around the city.

To reach the exhibition venue, please use Myakinino Metro Station. Exit 2 provides direct access to the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center.

Metro, bus and Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) services can be paid by using:

Troika transport card
(available at metro stations)
MIR bank cards
UnionPay bank cards

Please note that UnionPay cards may not be accepted at all payment terminals. For convenience, we recommend obtaining a MIR card or carrying a small amount of cash.

Taxi Services

For safe and reliable transportation, we recommend using licensed taxi services, including:

Yandex Go
Uber Russia

We strongly advise against using unofficial taxi drivers, particularly at airports.

Payments and Banking

Due to current financial restrictions, foreign-issued Visa, Mastercard, American Express and JCB cards are generally not accepted in Russia.

Visitors are advised to arrange alternative payment methods before travelling.

Obtaining a Russian MIR Bank Card

The most widely used banks include:

  • Sber
  • VTB
  • Alfa Bank
  • Gazprombank
  • T-Bank

In most cases, foreign nationals can open an account and obtain a MIR card using a valid passport.

Depending on the bank and type of card, additional documents such as a migration card, visa or proof of legal stay in Russia may be required.

As requirements may change, we recommend contacting the selected bank directly before travelling.

Digital payment solutions and virtual cards issued by Russian financial institutions are also available.

Currency Exchange

Currency exchange services are available at:

  • Airports
  • Bank branches
  • Official exchange offices

A valid passport is required for all currency exchange transactions.

Mobile Communications and Internet Access

Information on obtaining Russian SIM cards, eSIM options, and identification requirements.

To ensure uninterrupted access to communication, navigation and online services during your stay, we recommend obtaining a Russian SIM card with mobile internet and voice services.

Since 2025, foreign nationals are required to complete an identification procedure before obtaining a Russian SIM card.

Option 1 – Simplified Registration via Sberbank (Recommended)

The easiest way to obtain a SIM card is through a Sberbank branch.

Bank staff will assist with all required procedures, including biometric registration.

In most cases, additional registration on the Gosuslugi government services portal is not required.

Required document:

  • Valid passport

We recommend confirming service availability with the selected branch before your visit.

Important:

Once activated, the SIM card should remain in the device. Removing it may require repeat identification either at a Sberbank branch or through the Gosuslugi portal. For this reason, we recommend keeping the SIM card installed until the end of your trip.

Option 2 – Standard Registration Through a Mobile Operator

If you choose to obtain a SIM card directly from a mobile network operator, you will need to:

  1. Create an account on the Gosuslugi portal.
  2. Obtain a SNILS (Russian Individual Insurance Account Number).
  3. Register your biometric data through a Russian bank.
  4. Provide the IMEI number of the device in which the SIM card will be used.

Required documents:

  • Passport
  • Notarised Russian translation of the passport
  • SNILS
  • Confirmed biometric registration
  • IMEI number of the mobile device

Please note that under current regulations, the SIM card is registered to the specific device declared during the registration process.

eSIM Options

If your smartphone supports eSIM technology, you may activate an international mobile data plan before arriving in Russia.

Benefits of eSIM

  • Activation before travel
  • Immediate internet access upon arrival
  • No Russian documentation required
  • No SNILS registration
  • No biometric verification required
  • No visit to a mobile operator’s office required
  • Ability to keep your primary phone number while using mobile internet in Russia

Please note that most international eSIM providers offer mobile data services only and may not include a Russian phone number for voice calls and SMS.

If you require a Russian phone number for business communication, service registration or banking transactions, obtaining a Russian SIM card or eSIM from a local operator after arrival is recommended.

Wi-Fi Access

Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center, as well as in most hotels, airports, restaurants and cafés.

Free guest Wi-Fi networks are typically available in public areas and venue lobbies.

In accordance with Russian regulations, access to public Wi-Fi networks requires verification via a mobile phone number. A text message containing an access code will be sent to your device.

To ensure uninterrupted access to navigation apps, taxi services, messaging platforms and other online services, we recommend obtaining a Russian SIM card immediately upon arrival in Moscow.

Weather in November

Average temperatures in Moscow during the exhibition period:

Daytime: +2 °C to +8 °C

Night-time: −3 °C to +3 °C

We recommend bringing warm clothing, comfortable footwear and weather-appropriate outerwear, as temperatures may vary throughout the day.
